GETTING THERE

AIRPORT SCHIPHOL > WAREHOUSE HOTEL LOCATIONS

From Schiphol Airport there’s a direct train to Amsterdam Central Station (CS) approximately every 10 minutes.

Check the public transport planner 9292 for timetables.

The train rides you to CS in 10 minutes.

You need to buy a public transport chip card that allows you in train, bus, tram and metro.

Get it at the airport in the yellow machines of at the webshop of GVB (communal public transport).

 

ROUTE TO THE BIG WAREHOUSE & INDUSTRIAL WAREHOUSE:

At Central Station you can take city bus nr. 34 or 35 which takes you to Amsterdam North in two stops. 

You can find the buses upstairs on the riverside (the back side) of CS.

  • Get out the first stop after the tunnel, called ‘Mosveld’.
  • You cross the street in front of a little church. Take a right behind the church and you’ll be at Papaverweg.
  • Keep walking on the left side of the street. Follow the road on this side, while the road bends to the left at the junction. Here you really enter the industrial area with some nice ugly looking and some great looking places, like the Mercedes garage on your right hand. Walk straight on for a 100 meters till you see some open water on your left hand.


For the Industrial Warehouse:
Pass the water, and keep walking along the water when you take a left.

That’s the Kropaarstraat. Just walk towards nr. 10 on the corner, that’s your building!


For the Big Warehouse:
Pass the water, keep walking straight on, following Papaverweg.

But: take the sidewalk near the warehouses.

It’s the small parallel road where cars are parked. Take the first road to your left and enter the area of warehouses.

After 10 meters turn right. A few meters further on the right side you see the tree and the large windows of the Big Warehouse.


ROUTE TO THE HISTORICAL HOUSEBOAT & COSY CLASSIC HOUSEBOAT:

At Central Station take city bus 32 (direction Buikslotermeerplein).

 (The buses are upstairs at the back side/ river side of Central Station) Get out at the stop called Wervershoofstraat (see timetable buses).

  • Walk straight ahead for 50 meters. Pass the little church and take the first street on your right. Walk upwards, the road goes up a bit at the end. When you are up the ‘Nieuwendammerdijk’ turn left.
  • After 30 meters, you’ll see a little blue gate on your right hand. That’s the entrance of the harbour ‘Nauticadam’.
  • Walk down and you’ll see a blue/white shower house.


The Cosy classic Houseboat (called Res Nova) is next to the shower house, box 19.

For the Historical Houseboat (Deo Volente):

continue walking behind the shower house.

You can see a white crane to hoist boats out of the water.

Follow the pathway on your right hand.

Pass the black wooden Harbour Office on your left.

Walk along the grass until you reach the boats there.

The Historical Houseboat is the red ship, the third one in the row.


ROUTES TO THE CITY CENTRE

BIG WAREHOUSE & INDUSTRIAL WAREHOUSE  >  CITY CENTRE

To walk / bike: leaving the Warehouse, head for the bigger street Papaverweg and go right.

Pass the water on your right hand.

Continue straight on the right side of the road.

At the traffic lights, cross the big street Kamperfoelieweg and go right on the other side.

Follow the red biking path, cross the viaduct and follow the bending path to the right.

There you get to Van der Pekstraat.

 On Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays a fresh market place is occupying the middle part of the road.


Follow the biking path right to the end, go straight on and bend to the right. You already see the water there.

At the end of it you see the big water IJ.

On your right are Eye Film Institute and the cool ADAM Tower with restaurants and a club.


FREE FERRY
From here you need the ferry (‘pont’ in Dutch) to get over the ‘IJ’ to Central (Train) Station (901: CS – Buiksloterweg).

The ferries are free of charge and go day and night.
This one goes every 6 minutes daily and every 12 minutes all night. You can just wait for the next one to arrive but if you want, check 
timetables.

TIP: The app called PONTVEER (Dutch) counts down the minutes you have left to get to your ferry of choice.

It’s in Dutch but easy to understand.


HISTORICAL HOUSEBOAT & COSY CLASSIC HOUSEBOAT  >  CITY CENTRE

Leaving the harbour gate, turn left on Nieuwendammerdijk. Follow this typical old Dutch dike-road all the way through.

At the end of Nieuwendammerdijk (past the bakery), turn left at the large road Meeuwenlaan by crossing over the roundabout.

(There, you pass the best icecreamshop in Amsterdam North).

Go all the way straight on, pass the next roundabout. You bicicle on, passing supermarket ‘Dirk van den Broek’ on the left, with it’s red and white signs.

FREE FERRY

When you keep on following Meeuwenlaan you get to the east-ferry IJplein that’ll bring you to town. Make sure you take the ferry with destination Central Station. (Timetables here).
