BACKGROUND INFO

The historical houseboat the Deo Volente is built in 1920 and completely renovated in style. We tried to make it as luxury, comfortable and spacious as possible. Don’t expect a modern apartment – it will always be a classic boat, but a fine one.

You can light the wood fireplace for a cosy evening or sit on the large deck at sunset together. In this boat you feel completely relaxed and at home. Located in the green harbour of Amsterdam North, the silence is lovely whilst you can get to the energetic city centre in fifteen minutes on our rental bikes. You can indeed have it both ways!

The ship is made comfy with a fireplace and a central heating system. Inside the boat there are two double beds: one in a separate room in the front with a romantic round window, and one ‘bedstee’ (cupboardbed) in the living room. The sleeping sofa can be made into an extra double bed.

There’s a shower and a separate bathroom with a lavatory and a toilet. The basic kitchen is actually very big for a boat. It’s equipped with all basic cooking stuff, oil and vinegar and herbs. Hot water is provided by a small boiler.

On the stereo with mini-jack cable you can play your own MP3 player. Enjoy your time together and chill! But please don’t make noise in the harbour, the water carries the sound very far. The owner of the harbour is very strict about it.

FAQS

Here are answers to some common questions.
  • HOW DO WE GET FROM THE AIRPORT TO WAREHOUSE HOTEL?

From Schiphol Airport there’s a direct train to Amsterdam Central Station (CS) approximately every 10 minutes. Check the public transport planner 9292 for timetables. The train gets you to CS in 10 minutes.

You need a chip card: buy it at the yellow machines at the airport or at  GVB (communal public transport).

  • HOW DO WE GET THE KEYS? (CHECK IN - CHECK OUT)

We have a hostess, no reception. A few days before your stay, you let us know (around) what time you’ll arrive. The hostess will be there to hand you the keys. She’ll walk you through the location.

To check out, let us know again and we’ll be there to collect the keys. If you’ve had a great stay of if you want to share some suggestions with us, please tell us. We appreciate it.

  • WHERE CAN WE PARK OUR CARS?

Cars can be parked free of charge in front of the Warehouse. Two private parking places in front of the building are included. But parking in the streets is (still) free in Amsterdam North.

Reminder if you decide to use our rental bikes: please reserve them IN ADVANCE so we can make sure there are enough of them ready for you when you arrive.

  • CAN WE STAY FOR ONE NIGHT?

No. The Warehouse Hotel locations are apartments, not just one hotel room. We apply a minimum of two nights. Lean back and enjoy;)

  • ARE BED LINENS INCLUDED?

Yes, all bed clothing and blankets are included. The beds are made.

  • ARE TOWELS INCLUDED?

No. We don’t include towels anymore for environmental reasons, so people use their own towels more than once (it saves the planet a lot of washing).

You can order our TOWEL RENTAL SERVICE for € 2,- per towel. Please do reserve them in advance so we can put enough ready for you at your arrival. (And re-use them if possible. There’s plenty of space to hang them to dry.)

  • DO WE HAVE WIFI?

Naturally. You get the password at arrival.

  • IS THERE A: TOASTER – STEAM IRON - HAIR DRYER? (AND MORE FACILITIES)

Of course! Toast your bread, dry your hair, iron your shirts, all is available. The Warehouse Hotel locations may look rough and industrial, they’re actually detailed with many facilities to make you feel perfectly at home.

The fully equipped kitchens with restaurant quality stove make home cooking possible for larger groups. You can all have a coffee, breakfast or dinner together with some nice music on, playing on the stereo with mini-jack cable for MP3.

Although our rental bikes get you into town fast, our pool table and other playground accessories may keep you here;)

  • IS SMOKING ALLOWED?

Downstairs you’re allowed to smoke, preferably in the area closer to the front door (and further away from the beds on the half floor). Smoking is not allowed upstairs and certainly not in the bedrooms. The smell lingers around too long. Thank you for considering clean air and fresh rooms for all our guests!

  • WILL CLEANING BE DONE?

Tidying up: please do so yourself.  Cleaning: yes, that’s our job.

We kindly ask you, to please tidy up as you would in your own house. Do the dishes and put them back in the cupboards. Use garbage bags for your trash. Thank you!

Afterwards the thorough cleaning, washing and making beds will be done by us. We charge a cleaning fee for it.

  • DO WE PAY A DEPOSIT?

Yes. We hope you appreciate the attention we put into creating the Warehouse Hotel locations. We assume that you’ll keep the place as neat and original as you found it. But accidents can happen…

  • IS THERE A SUPERMARKET NEARBY?

The Big Warehouse is located near various supermarkets and a fresh market place.

At the street called Mosveld there’s DEEN supermarket and Albert Heijn (a 5-minute walk). A little bit closer is GENCO, a Turkish grocery store. Good meat, feta cheese, olives & fresh vegetables.

To walk / bike over there: leaving the Warehouse, head for the bigger street Papaverweg and go right. Pass the water on your right hand. Continue straight on the right side of the road. At the traffic lights, cross the big street Kamperfoelieweg and go right on the other side. On your left you pass GENCO but more regular supermarkets are just a little bit further down, past the viaduct and then on the left. There’s a fresh fish shop (order some real Dutch raw herring!), an artisan bakery and a drugstore too.

The fresh market is straight on instead of left, at Van der Pekstraat. (Wednesday – Friday – Saturday 9.30 AM – 4.30 PM). Along that road are several little places for coffee, breakfast or lunch and takeaway food.

  • TRANSPORT – HOW DO WE GET INTO TOWN - BY BIKE?

The best way in Amsterdam is to go with the city bus to central station. look at 9292ov app.

    Ferry

From the North district of Amsterdam you need a ferry (‘pont’ in Dutch) to get over the water called ‘IJ’. The ferries are free of charge and go day and night. The most important one for you is the ferry across Central Train Station (901 – Buiksloterweg). It goes every 6 minutes daily and every 12 minutes all night. You can just wait for the next one to arrive but if you want, check timetables.

At the hip old shipyard area NDSM, where several real cool cafés and restaurants are based, there’s another ferry that leaves for Central Station and back approximately every 20 minutes. Check the specific timetables for this ferry (905 – NDSM).

TIP: The app called PONTVEER (Dutch) counts down the minutes you have left to get to your ferry of choice. It’s in Dutch but easy to understand.
